United have endured a nightmare 2024-25 campaign as they are poised to finish outside the top 10 for the first time in the Premier League era. They also crashed out of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup in the early stages. Progress to the last-four of the Europa League is the only saving grace for the Red Devils, but head coach Ruben Amorim believes that even winning the trophy will not 'save' their season.

The Premier League giants progressed to the Europa League semi-finals dramatically as they staged an epic comeback in the extra time of their quarter-final second leg against Lyon. United squandered a two-goal lead in the first half as Lyon dragged the tie to extra time, where they scored two quick goals. Just when it seemed that their journey was over with just six minutes left on the clock, Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire scored in quick succession to clinch the game for United.
WHAT NEXT FOR MANCHESTER UNITED?
Amorim's side are all set to face Athletic Club in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final clash on Thursday. They will host them in the return leg a week later.
